The Story Behind the Designs

I first watched FMA Brotherhood in my early 20’s, when my partner was helping to get me back into anime.

I’d been a Fruits Basket/Inuyasha/Gundam Wing fan in my early teens, but hadn’t watched any anime in a good 5 years.

On his recommendation, we started watching Brotherhood, and proceeded to display what I think is exemplary self-restraint as we kept ourselves to 1-2 episodes a night.

The next year I joined my first group cosplay, and my partner, our friend, and I walked around Fanime in San Jose with me as Edward, Lust, and Winry.

Fullmetal Alchemist holds a special place for me, both because of the show itself and the memories I’ve formed with my friends around it.

Even after over 15 years, its characters and storyline hold up as complex and dynamic, and the fandom shows up at anime cons to this day.
