Hogwarts House Sticker - Gryffindor
When I made these designs, I’d been wanting to make stamps based on the Hogwarts houses for a good two years.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was struggling to find a unique way to present the houses that wasn’t too similar to (or unrecognizably different from) the original design, and also matched my art style.
The idea to structure the design around Gothic architecture hit me somewhat out of the blue, but I spent a good 20hrs diving into it.
For Gryffindor, I liked the idea of using a square. It’s solid, dependable, and strong — those qualities we all know and love about this house.
For Hufflepuff I was drawn to the round, friendly shape. But I also liked that there were some sharp-looking sections parts that speak to Hufflepuffs’ hidden reserve of fierceness.
For Ravenclaw, I sought out something refined and elegant, alluding to Ravenclaw’s focus on the mind and intellectualism.
For Slytherin, I liked that the design suggested the curving form of a snake. The design is also one of the most complex, reminding us that there is more to this house than the dark arts.
